Introduction
The Institut Jacques Armand association is a Fench non-profit association (loi 1901), created in 2021 by:
– Michaël Déjean – President,
– Bernadette Déjean – Treasurer,
– Delphine Déjean – secretary.
The aim of the association is to develop effective, easy-to-take and affordable treatments to stop the progression of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s disease among others. At present, the treatments available for these diseases are not effective in changing the course of the disease.
We want to propose a different way to develop drugs by focusing on the efficacy of treatment for each patient. Individualization of therapy will de facto increase development costs since additional clinical studies will be needed to tailor treatment to each patient. However, this approach will at the same time drastically reduce drug promotion costs, which account for about twice the development costs (1). Moreover, with a non-profit association, no profit will be generated and therefore no dividends will have to be paid to investors or shareholders. Thus, treatment will be tailored to each patient to achieve maximum efficacy, costs will be controlled and the price will be affordable for all.
